Pre-trip Cleaning
So, we're headed out of town this week for a few days. Usually, I don't give too much thought to cleaning before leaving. That changed when I actually made time to do it before our last trip to visit family. A day after we were back, Rich said to me, "Thank you for cleaning before we left. It really does make a difference coming back to a clean house."
Today, in my cleaning hustle, I managed to get another two things off my list and FINALLY got little man's closet cleaned out and the too-big clothes of his that we've received from kind friends organized into a couple of mobile drawers in the closet. It's SO nice to have the miscellaneous things out of that closet and put where they belong so I can use it for what it was intended!
Do you clean before going out of town? Does it change depending on if it's a short trip versus a long trip?

Sink must be empty for me when leaving. The mold grows fast enough here as is, I'm sure it grows faster when no body is home. Where all y'all going?
ReplyDeleteHeaded to Utah for the sealing of our adopted cousin to his parents, and then the baby blessing. So exciting!! I'm really nervous about how little man will do on the drive. We're stopping in Richland for a day to split up the drive. That way, it's 10 hours instead of 14. I hope it works!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely get everything pretty tidy and try to leave it somewhat clean even though it takes so much more work and stress. It's so worth it, though, like you said, because you know when you come home you're going to be even more stressed and frustrated and overwhelmed from a long trip, that starting unpacking in a clean house makes coming home a little easier. One time I put clean sheets on the bed before going on a trip and coming home to that was like arriving at a hotel. Pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Utah! I want to hear how your trip went when you return. I have yet to make that drive, but I know I will someday.
Growing up, my mom ALWAYS made us clean before trips (whether it was a one night deal or a week long). As a result, we had the same feeling that Rich did--it really makes a difference.
ReplyDeleteI, on the other hand, naturally feel like that is what I have to do before we go on trips too, but usually I am so caught up with packing that it doesn't happen, but when I get home I wish that I had made it happen.
