Oven, table, chairs oh my!
Ok people, what's your preferred method of cleaning the oven: Self-cleaning mode or baking soda etc?
Also, I put down to scrub down all our chairs and table. Now we wipe and clean daily but there's all those little bit left over that scare me. I plan on it taking lots of elbow grease, but any other suggestions of what to use?
I'm a little bit nervous about getting this all done and so, would anyone be willing to take my two kids next monday from 10:30am to 12:30? if not that, wednesday?
And I'd love to watch someone's kids next tuesday? any takers?

I'm an oven-cleaning virgin, so after I do it (it's on my list), I'll let you know what I think.
ReplyDeleteAs for the table and chairs, I get a spray cleaner I like (Wood for Good by Method or an all-purpose spray like Jen Boundy's homemade cleaner (water, castile soap and essential oil optional) and spray the caked-on spots (usually the whole table and each chair).
Then I walk away and do something else. (Change a diaper, wash 20 dishes, you know, something always needs to be done.) :)
When you come back, take several clean absorbent cloths (microfiber is nice, but simple bar cloths work great too) and wipe it off. Keep wiping until all the goobers are off and the surface is dry. Repeat if necessary.
The shiny surface won't last past the next meal, but it looks great for at least 10 minutes. :) Sometimes I want to take a picture!
Oh, and I can totally watch your kids while you do it. Monday is great.
ReplyDeletei do the toxic-style oven clean, with Easy-Off. i'd love to try amanda's natural solution, but am too lazy at the moment. and for cleaning tables and chairs i think i just use vinegar and water and a rag.
