Curtains
Ok, last post I promise, I've just been wondering about curtains/blinds. Not how to clean them, but why people open or close them. My neighbors never (and that's a 100% never) open their curtains or blinds. It just baffles me. But maybe one of you is a curtain-closed kind of person and can explain it to me. Do you like them closed? Does it give a sense of security, privacy? Or do you just forget about them? I need to understand.
Because I have to have them open as soon as proper. I feel shut it and claustrophobic without open windows and light. In fact, a good morning means I can open the curtains by 8am. It signifies, "start!" to me. Do you have something like that? A shower, breakfast, ??
Anyway, I figured perhaps through one of you I could at long last understand.

Oh, I am with you. The minute we are awake I wipe those blinds up. Sometimes even before my husband is out of bed!
ReplyDeleteIf the blinds are closed during the day, it's because it's nap time or it's very bright (all of my boys have very sensitive eyes).
Otherwise, I feel like it's a dungeon without natural light flooding in.
Same-sies! I open them the moment I wake up too. I feel claustrophobic with them shut. Rain or shine they are open!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I gotta have those curtains opened ASAP as well. Then around the time it's getting dark, I like to close them. Adam would have them open non-stop, he swears that nobody is looking in. But I can't stand to have them open in the evening. Makes me feel way too exposed.
ReplyDeleteI used to shut the curtains intentionally in the daytime when I lived in California to pretend it was bad weather outside so I could bake or make soup (that sun drove me nuts sometimes, for real). But people who close their curtains intentionally in Seattle are truly baffling. I think it's because 1. they are uber-paranoid and hermitic (that's my neighbor for sure), 2. they are depressed or 3. they just really want privacy.
